It's Friday the 13th and the beginning of a long holiday weekend. Cap sails out with Quinn on a fishing cruise designed to help the deputy finally get over his aborted wedding. Meanwhile, Tom and Jennifer head off in the S&R chopper for a clandestine picnic on a remote island. And three indignant interns get left behind to hold the fort at the Institute.No, they're not happy about it. Especially when things start to go wrong. First, a great white shark attacks "The Maria D.," damages it badly and takes a big chunk out of Flipper, too. Then the S&R chopper has engine trouble and crashes on that isolated island. And when Flipper limps back into the Institute after his "shark encounter," the interns find they can't reach Jennifer, that no other veterinarians are available over the weekend and that the medical supplies they need are in short supply.
Everyone's got their own set of troubles to deal with. Will Cap and Quinn keep "The Maria D." from sinking before they get back? Will Tom and Jennifer make it off that remote island? And who will help Flipper?
