![]() Flipper: Mermaid Island (640x480) |
Jennifer is fighting to preserve an island once privately held by the wealthy DeLongville family. However, developers will soon gain county approval to build a large resort there. While looking for rare species around the island, Maya and Dean nearly run over a beautiful young woman in the water. They pursue her and get a glimpse of a silver tail. Maya believes she could be a mermaid and Dean wants no part of it, but the girl seems attracted to him. Eventually, with Cap's help, they capture her, but she appears to be an ordinary, yet unfortunately delusional young woman who calls herself Melisand, Mel for short. She claims to be a mermaid whom Neptune took beneath the waves as a little girl. Strangely, her story seems to dovetail with that of young Jeanvieve DeLongville. The female heir to the family fortune (and the island) was reportedly drowned on her seventh birthday some twelve years ago. Her body was never found. Mel is about nineteen now. When Tom discovers her fingerprints match Jeanvieve's, he uses her emergence as a possible heir, to stall county action on the development. The construction boss, Hemmings, has an iron clad contract with daily penalties for not finishing on time. He'll lose a fortune unless he can foreshorten the delay. The only way to do it is to get rid of this "heir/mermaid." How will Flipper and our people save the island from turning into a resort? Will Mel come through for them, or will she swim away with her tail between her legs? Stay tuned...
